The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve and cooler are replaced when they become clogged, malfunction, or fail, which can lead to engine performance issues, increased emissions, or even engine damage. 

The EGR Valve is a key emissions control component that recirculates a portion of exhaust gases back into the engine's combustion chamber. This reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by lowering peak combustion temperatures.

The EGR Cooler is an auxiliary component that cools the recirculated exhaust gases before they re-enter the engine. This further enhances NOx reduction and improves efficiency by increasing gas density.
