Hyundai iLoad / iMax Common Problems and Solutions
The following problems are common to see in the Hyundai iLoad/iMax:
- Turbocharger Failure
- Timing Chain Issues
- Leaking Injector Seats
What is the cause of these common problems?
The diesel injector seat washers in the 2.5L D4VB iLoad engine begin to leak after years. It gets worse and worse as the km’s rack up and the seat washers blow out eventually. Then combustion gasses, pressure and unburnt diesel (soot) ends up leaking past the washer and into the crankcase.
When the injector seat washers leak, the exhaust gas and soot mixes with the engine oil and forms hard lumps of carbon that go down to the sump and build up to eventually restrict the oil pickup.
Due to the restricted oil lubrication, turbocharger and timing chain will start to have problems.
All these problems can be avoided with proper maintenance! As a Hyundai iLoad owner, what you should do is:
1.Change the engine oil more frequently, we recommend every 5000km.
2.Replace injector seat washers every 100,000km
